Chapter Nine:

The Title

The following morning I woke up to the annoying sound of the alarm clock. I damn near knocked the clock on the floor trying to turn it off. I had a nine o’clock appointment at the hair salon, and I needed to be on time or else I’d be in there all damn day. Going to the hairdresser once a week was like a job. I’d never worked a regular nine to five so my patience was short when it came to being in one place for too many hours. I had been sick the previous week and missed my appointment.

Mina was my stylist and since she was one of the hottest in the city, her book was always packed. She’d been styling my hair since I was a teenager, and I didn’t trust anyone but her to touch my mane. I threw on a pair of faux leather shorts and a crop top since it was going up to ninety degrees outside. I always had to be fly just in the event I ran into a baller when I wore shorts and stilettos I had niggas under my spell, immediately.

I strutted in the salon in perfect time. The shampoo girl was waiting for me. After my hair was blow dried, I hopped right into Mina’s chair.

“How are things going?” Mina asked while brushing through my hair.

“Everything is great. I’m living it up as usual! You know how I get down,” I replied with a giggle.

“I’m glad to see you doing better after being in the hospital.”

“Yeah, I’m good, I’m glad to be out of there. That flu really kicked my ass! That two-day stay was two of the hardest days of my life, besides the day I was left at the damn alter. I’m just glad that’s all over with, and it’s back to business.”

“Girl, you are the same Miani, always about them dollars!”

“That ain’t never going to change! Shit, this is me! Anyone that doesn’t like it can kiss my ass!” I replied as we both began laughing.

She began to style my hair as I sat there looking out of the window at this chocolate brotha’ making his way towards the shop. His jewels were shining, and that shit was ringing like a cash register in my ear. I wished that I were up walking around so he could see my ass jiggle, but my hair was still only halfway done.

He stopped at the receptionist desk, and she pointed in my direction after he bent over to ask her a question. Every bitch in the building had her eyes on him. He walked directly over to me. I was speechless, wondering how he’d pinpointed me. I was the shit, but there were about fifteen other chicks in here and my hair wasn’t done. Not to mention the cape that was covering my sexy ass curves.

“Hey how are you doing? Are you Miani?” he asked flashing his pearly whites.

“Why? Who wants to know?” I asked with sass. I couldn’t have him thinking I was like these other thirsty drooling bitches.
